George Augustus Baker Sr. (1760-1847) was a miniature painter active in New York. Born in Strasbourg, he settled in the United States and worked as a painter of portrait miniatures and as a drawing master. He taught the craft to his son, George Augustus Baker Jr., who went on to a successful career as a portrait and miniature painter.

His work is represented in American museum collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He died in New York in 1847.
