Samuel Broadbent (1810-1880) was an American portrait painter and photographer. He began his career as a portrait painter and miniaturist in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Dr. Samuel Broadbent, a physician who also painted portraits. Around 1840 he took up the daguerreotype in the circle of Samuel F. B. Morse, and through that decade he worked as an itinerant daguerreotypist, operating in New York and in southern cities including Savannah, Charleston, and Columbia, South Carolina.
He later settled in Philadelphia, where he ran a photographic studio and worked in partnership with several other operators. He died in Philadelphia in 1880.
