His handscroll The Demon Queller Zhong Kui Giving His Sister Away in Marriage shows a fierce, grinning Zhong Kui marrying off his sister as ghosts and attendants swirl around them. The ink shifts from soot-black to pale mist, every figure ready to step off the scroll.
