Yao Yanqing is a Yuan dynasty literati painting artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Yao Yanqing, whose given name was Yao Tingmei, was a Chinese landscape painter of the Yuan dynasty (1271-1368), active in the mid-14th century. A native of Huzhou in Zhejiang province, he worked in the manner of the Northern Song master Guo Xi, building dense, atmospheric mountain scenes from firm, deliberate brushwork. He also drew on the earlier masters Dong Yuan and Juran.

His surviving handscroll Leisure Enough to Spare, now in the Cleveland Museum of Art, is his best-known work. Earlier confusion treating Yao Yanqing and Yao Tingmei as two artists was later resolved in his favor.
