Artist

Bilal Habshi

Bilal Habshi is a Mughal Painting artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Cleveland Museum of Art.

Bilal Habshi painted like he was translating a dream, fast, fluid, and full of movement. He worked on the Razm-nama, a Persian version of the Mahabharata, where fire and fury spill across tiny, crowded pages. The page you’ll want to hunt down shows two priests lighting flames while a warrior bursts from the smoke like a surprise. Look close and you’ll see the brush flick between silk and smoke in one stroke.
