G. Smeeton

G. Smeeton is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Printmaker in the early 19th century, G. Smeeton carved and inked scenes for the Beard collection. One surviving sheet shows a London street corner with a barrel-organ player and a terrier sniffing a cabbage leaf. The print is small, just big enough to tuck inside a waistcoat pocket.

After inking, Smeeton usually signed the plate at the lower left in tiny serif letters. Tap the Beard Print Collection to see the barrel-organ sheet in detail.
