Hemachandra made delicate manuscript pages for a Jain text called the Yoga-shastra in 1279. Each sheet mixes tiny figures and dense text: on the left side, monks and laypeople sit in rows beneath an enthroned Rishabha; on the right, columns of script guide the eye.
