Thomas Peat was a British portrait painter active from around 1791 into the early nineteenth century, working chiefly in miniature in both watercolour and enamel. Based in London at addresses near Holborn and later at Rathbone Place, he exhibited at the Royal Academy until about 1805. He was peripatetic, with work also recorded in Bath, Bristol, and Leamington Spa, and he shared a household with his sister, who likewise painted portraits. He was noted by contemporaries for his skill in capturing a likeness.
