Shushila Devi

Shushila Devi is a Contemporary Abstract artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

This artist made small devotional paintings of Hindu gods and heroes around the 1970s. Their brushwork keeps the bright colors and flat shapes you see in the old pichwai hangings from Nathdwara. Look at the 1973 Krishna in the bundle: the blue-skinned god holds a flute while standing on a lotus. Next, tap the same painting to zoom in and spot the tiny bells on his anklets.
