A Dance in Spring is a 1910 graphite by Lawrence, Sir Alma-Tadema, held at National Gallery of Art.
This sketch shows two women in flowing robes, one reaching out to touch the other’s shoulder. The background is plain, with just a hint of a pillar on the right. The lines are soft and smudged, like a quick study. The artist used only graphite, making the whole scene look like a rough draft. The loose strokes give it a warm, sketchy feel.
