Untitled is a 2004 graphite by Birgit Megerle, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This picture shows four figures standing in front of a building with a tall statue behind them. The statue is of a woman holding a spear, standing on a pedestal. The people below wear old-fashioned uniforms—one man in a dark coat with gold buttons, another in a lighter outfit with a big wig, and a third in a green hat. The colors are soft and muted, with lots of yellows and browns. Notice how the artist used tiny pencil strokes to build up the shapes and colors. It looks almost like a sketch but with careful shading. If you like this style, check out stippling to see how artists create texture with dots.
Birgit Megerle (b. 1975) was a German artist, born in Geisingen.
