This sketchy print shows a busy river scene with a crowd of people, horses, and carriages on a bridge. Tall buildings line the left side, and a clock tower stands out in the middle. Ships float in the water, and the whole scene looks hazy, like it’s seen through a light fog. The artist used lots of tiny lines and textures to show movement and detail, especially in the horses and water. The paper has a rough, grainy feel, which makes the whole image look like a quick, sketchy study. Look up etching to see how artists like this one use acid and needles to carve into metal plates.
