St. Simeon Salus; The Visitation; Deposition of the Virgin's Clothes; St. Hiacintus is a 1634 ink by Jacques Callot, a Baroque work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This set of four small prints shows religious scenes. The top left has a woman holding a child while others gather around. The top right shows two women embracing near a doorway. The bottom left depicts a bishop-like figure with a crowd behind him. The bottom right has a man being beaten with a stick. These were made using a printing method that lets artists carve fine lines into metal. The scenes look dramatic but are drawn with sharp, precise lines. Want to know more? Look up etching.
