Women at Work is a 2017 by Margaret Calvert, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This print is called *Women at Work* by Margaret Calvert. It shows how a designer can shape everyday life through clear, simple images. Calvert helped create Britain’s road sign system in the 1960s, including the famous ‘Men at Work’ pictogram. Her work made signs easier to read for everyone. The print reflects that same clarity and care in design. It’s held at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Look up the museum: Victoria and Albert Museum.
The print titled *Women at Work* reproduces a modified road sign in its original dimensions, featuring a red warning triangle enclosing a white background with a black silhouette of a woman digging. Based on Margaret Calvert’s 2010 revision of her earlier ‘Men at Work’ sign, this version replaces the male figure with a female counterpart. Produced in collaboration with Jealous Print Studio, the screenprint maintains the graphic clarity of the original signage system.
