At Hampton Court is a 4 by Charles Sykes, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This drawing shows a snowy forest with bare trees and tangled branches. The ink lines are thick and rough, making the trees look twisted and alive. Snow covers the ground, but the artist didn’t smooth it out—it’s sketchy, almost like quick notes. The artist signed it in the corner with the date "2/6/34" and the title *At Hampton Court*. The messy lines suggest they were drawn fast, maybe while walking outside. Look up cross-hatching next to see how artists build up dark areas with layers of lines.
A landscape-format drawing by Charles Sykes from June 2, 1934, depicts a scene at Hampton Court Palace and is signed and dated by the artist.
