Untitled is a 2007 acrylic by Charline von Heyl, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This wall shows ten small, abstract prints in two rows. The images mix black ink lines and shapes with splashes of bright orange. Some pieces look like tangled webs or cracked surfaces, while others feel more like scribbled energy. A few have textured bits glued on or a single orange dot for contrast. The prints combine different techniques—some look hand-drawn, others printed. One piece even has a rough wood-grain background. The mix of messy and precise lines makes them feel alive. Check out lithography to see how some of these prints were made.
Charline von Heyl is a German abstract painter. She also works with drawing, printmaking, and collage. She moved to the United States in the 1990s, and has studios in New York City and in Marfa, Texas.
