Drawing of the House of Sheik Sadat, Cairo is a 1823 by Frank Dillon, a Romanticism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This drawing shows the inside of a building with two tall, arched doorways filled with intricate patterns. Above them, a balcony curves around with small arches and detailed carvings. The walls have layers of geometric designs, like lacework, and the floor looks like a checkerboard of light and dark squares. The artist focused on tiny details—every line and shadow makes the patterns pop. This kind of careful drawing was common in the 1800s when artists studied faraway places in depth.
