Stephen Farthing’s *Studies for a Globe No. 77* (2005) presents an inverted outline of Australia rendered in pencil, with the continent’s northern region shaded in blue and its southern area in red wash. The work is part of the *40 Artists - 40 Drawings* series, acquired collectively in 2007. Farthing, a Royal Academician since 1998, studied at St Martin’s School of Art and the Royal College of Art before holding academic leadership roles, including Ruskin Master at Oxford and later positions in New York and London.
