Farthing began his formal training at St Martin’s School of Art, where he studied from 1969 to 1973. He continued his postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Art between 1973 and 1976, later returning to the RCA as a faculty member.
Legacy
In 1998 Farthing was elected a Royal Academician, acknowledging his contributions to contemporary drawing and his standing within the British art establishment.
