The Peasant Wedding or the Twelve Months: 3-Her Gregorius Mercz 4-Marcus April is a 1546 by Sebald Beham, a Renaissance work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This black-and-white print shows four people in old-fashioned clothes, standing close together. The two women wear long skirts and head coverings, while the men have loose shirts and hats. One man raises his hand like he’s making a point, and the other leans in, as if they’re arguing or telling a story. The ground looks like dirt with a few blades of grass. The names at the top, "Her Gregorius Mercz" and "Marcus April," might be characters or months—this print is part of a series called *The Twelve Months*. The artist signed it with the letters "HSB," which stands for his name. Next, check out Renaissance art to see how everyday people were often shown in these prints.
