This watercolor shows a wild, rocky waterfall pouring over jagged cliffs. The water sprays into a misty pool below, surrounded by tangled bushes and mossy stones. Two tiny figures stand near the base, dwarfed by the scene. The artist used soft washes of gray and green to blur the edges of the water, making it look alive. This style was popular in the early 1800s for showing nature’s raw power. Check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to see more paintings like this.
