The Victoria and Albert Museum acquired a series of albumen photographs by Louise Laffon in 1864, including this image of an Etruscan bronze lamp suspended by chains, part of a set documenting objects from the Campana Collection at the Musée Napoléon III in Paris. Laffon’s photographs were produced as educational resources for artists and students, with her studio identified neutrally as "Photographie Lord Byron" to mask her gender. Louise Laffon (1828–1885), was a French photographer and painter. She was one of the first female professional photographers in France. She had a studio in Paris between 1859 and 1876.
