Officers at Cobham Camp, 1854 is a 1854 watercolor by Lami, a Impressionism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows four men in military uniforms. One sits on the ground, reading a letter. The others stand around him—one holds a flag, another leans on a rifle. Their clothes are bright red and blue, with tall hats and boots. The background looks like a camp with trees and hills. Notice how the paint is loose and quick, almost sketchy. The colors pop but don’t blend perfectly. This style was new at the time. Look up Realism next to see how this fits into the movement.
The watercolour shows officers gathered at Cobham Camp in 1854, rendered in water-based pigments on paper.
