This sketch shows a group of bare trees with twisted branches, standing in a field. The lines are light and quick, almost like a quick note of what the artist saw. Some small bushes or plants are scattered near the base of the trees, but the focus is on the tall, empty branches reaching upward. The artist used simple pencil strokes to suggest the shape and movement of the trees. The paper has a yellowed look, like it’s been around for a while. There’s a small signature in the corner, but it’s hard to read clearly. If you like this style, check out cross-hatching to see how artists build up tone with lines.
