Untitled is a 1858 by Frederic, Lord Leighton, a Impressionism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This sketch shows a person from behind, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a loose jacket. They’re holding something small in one hand and gesturing with the other, as if explaining or pointing. The background is just a faint outline of a building or landscape, barely there. The drawing looks fast and rough, like a quick study. The artist used light pencil strokes to show folds in the clothes and the shape of the body. Check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to see more sketches like this.
A black chalk drawing heightened with white depicts a man carrying a dish, created as a study for a painting showing Count Paris discovering Juliet apparently lifeless on her bed.
