Male Nude [verso] is a 1560 chalk by Michelangelo, a Renaissance work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This sketch shows a standing man with his arms raised slightly behind his head. The lines are loose and quick, almost like a first try at a drawing. His legs are straight, and his body is turned just a little to the side. The paper has a textured look, like old paper with a woven pattern. The artist used only black chalk, so the drawing is all in shades of gray. This is a sketch by Michelangelo.
Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (6 March 1475 – 18 February 1564), known mononymously as Michelangelo, was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect, and poet of the High Renaissance.
