Μάσκα 4 - Άνδρας is a 1953 by Alex Mylona, held at Metropolitan Organisation of Museums of Visual Arts of Thessaloniki – MOMus.
This drawing shows a man’s face turned into a mask. The eyes bulge wide. The mouth gapes open. Dark lines press into the paper. Colors clash—reds and blacks fight under the skin. Artist Alex Mylona knew Attic pottery well. She borrowed those sharp eyes and open mouths. The mask looks alive—almost like it’s breathing. Her hand moves like a sculptor’s. Cross-hatching makes the face feel carved, not drawn.
Alex Mylona (Athens, 1920 – 2016) was a Greek sculptor, known for her multidimensional and experimental approach to art.
