This painting shows Christ’s pale body wrapped in cloth, lying in a dark tomb. The only light hits his face and chest. You can almost feel the weight of death on him. Platte-Montagne used two print methods—etching and engraving—together. That mix makes shadows deeper and textures sharper than either could do alone. It’s a trick most artists don’t try. Look up chiaroscuro next.
