This print shows a woman in a heavy winter kimono standing in snow. Her black hair contrasts with white fur trim. The background is simple—just snow and shadow. Emil Orlik made this in 1901 using drypoint, a way to scratch a metal plate. Then he rouletted it—rolled a spiked wheel over the lines to soften them. This gives the image a quiet, textured look.
