About this work

This is a worn book with a faded green cover. The word "EGYPT" is written in gold letters near the top. There’s a small brass clasp with holes in the middle of the cover, and the spine shows signs of age with its dark, cracked leather. The book belongs to a General named Sausmarez, whose name is handwritten in ink at the top left corner. This isn’t a painting, but it’s part of a collection tied to travel and exploration. If you’re curious about where this book is kept, check out the Victoria and Albert Museum.
