楊洲周延画 『女官洋服裁縫之図』|Court Ladies Sewing Western Clothing (Jokan yōfuku saihō no zu) is a 23 ink by Yōshū (Hashimoto) Chikanobu, a Impressionism work, depicting Sewing, held at Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This triptych shows three scenes of women making clothes. On the left, a woman sits at a sewing machine, threading fabric. The middle panel has a woman in a long black dress holding a fan, standing with a boy in a suit. The right panel shows another woman cutting fabric while a child watches, with a pile of clothes nearby. The bright colors and bold outlines are typical of woodblock prints. These images focus on daily life, blending traditional Japanese styles with Western clothing. Look up cross-hatching next to see how artists create shading with lines.
