About this work

A man in old-fashioned robes kneels beside a small red inkstand. His face is serious, and he holds a brush like he’s about to write. Behind him, a quiet landscape of hills and a river stretches out, with Japanese text floating above his head. This print was made as part of a series celebrating writing tools. The artist focused on the quiet moment before creating something—like pausing to gather thoughts. Next, look up brush, writing, calligraphy to see how tools like this shaped art for centuries.
