The Archaeological Museum, Thrissur is an art and archaeological museum located in Thrissur City, Kerala state, India. Founded in 1938 as the Sree Mulam Chithrasala (Picture Gallery) under the Government of Cochin, it is now housed within the Thrissur Zoo compound at Kollengode Palace. The institution serves as a significant repository of Kerala's archaeological heritage, spanning prehistoric tools to medieval sculpture, and represents one of the region's established public museums dedicated to preserving and displaying artifacts from across the state.

The museum originated as the Sree Mulam Chithrasala (Picture Gallery) in 1938, established under the auspices of the Government of Cochin. Its initial home was the balcony of Thrissur Town Hall. A decade later, in 1948, an archaeological gallery was appended to the Picture Gallery, broadening its scope beyond art. The decisive transformation came in 1975, when the Department of Archaeology acquired a building at Chembukavu in Thrissur City. The archaeological and Picture Gallery collections were transferred to this new premises, and the institution was formally renamed the Archaeological Museum, Thrissur. This relocation and rebranding consolidated its identity as a dedicated archaeological museum.

The museum's holdings encompass multiple categories of archaeological and artistic material. Its collections include life-size statues of prominent personalities, models of ancient temples and monuments, and manuscripts written on dry palm leaves. The megalith collection comprises earthen pots, urn burials known as Nannangadi, black and red wares, black wares, and russet-coated wares. Prehistoric material includes stone age tools. Excavated materials derive from Indus Valley civilization sites and Cheraman Parambu at Kodungallur, as well as from megalithic sites including beads and iron implements. The geographic scope of acquisitions extends across Thrissur district, Wayanad district, and Palakkad district.

Among the museum's signature works are its stone sculptures dating from the 7th to 10th centuries and bronze sculptures from the 12th to 18th centuries. These sculptural collections represent significant periods in South Indian artistic production, with the earlier stone works reflecting medieval temple sculpture traditions and the later bronze pieces spanning the late medieval through early modern eras. The megalithic assemblage, including distinctive Nannangadi urn burials, constitutes another notable strength, offering material evidence of prehistoric burial practices in the region.

The museum is situated within the Thrissur Zoo compound, occupying premises at Kollengode Palace. The current building at Chembukavu was acquired by the Department of Archaeology in 1975, replacing the original Town Hall balcony location. This site within the zoo compound places the museum in a broader cultural and recreational complex in Thrissur City, integrating archaeological preservation with public access in a central urban setting.
