The Coral Museum - Private Collection Liverino is a museum devoted to coral art and craftsmanship located in Torre del Greco, a town in the Province of Naples, Italy. Founded in 1986 by Basilio Liverino, patriarch of a family with more than five generations of coral production and processing, the museum houses over 1,000 objects that trace the global history of coral working from the sixteenth century to the present. Its significance lies in its unique concentration of masterpieces gathered through decades of passionate collecting, representing one of the most important private collections of its kind in the world.

The museum's origins reach back to 1934, when a sixteen-year-old Basilio Liverino began assembling objects related to his family's trade. What began as a youthful passion for coral, deepened by discoveries made during travels in Asia, evolved over decades into a systematic collection. The museum itself was formally established in 1986, transforming the family's private holdings into an institution open to the public. For over five generations, the Liverino family has been bound to coral, a connection they describe as transcending mere business interest to encompass cultural preservation and artistic patronage.

The collection comprises more than 1,000 items of sculpture and jewellery crafted from coral and precious stones, with artistic creations from across the globe dating from the sixteenth century onward. The holdings are organized into eight thematic sections and include works in coral, Cypraea shells, mother-of-pearl, ivory, and lava stone. Geographically, the collection spans Sicilian craftsmanship from Trapani, Neapolitan and Torrese masterworks from the eighteenth century, pieces from Genoa, Rome, Great Britain, France, and Turkey, as well as significant holdings from China, Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia, and Japan. The museum also maintains a section devoted to contemporary production by master engravers of Torre del Greco.

The museum is particularly noted for coral works by artists Carlo Parlati and Romolo Grassi. Among its most celebrated individual pieces is what is described as the largest cameo in the world, executed between 1783 and 1883 on a large sardonic shell by the Neapolitan master Giovanni Sabbato, featuring a complete allegory of the British Empire that celebrates Victorian England's grandeur. The first section of the museum displays intense red coral branches known as moro or aka in Japanese, alongside a rare Asian coral shrub over one metre tall with pink coloring spotted with white. The Sicilian section includes sixteenth-century liturgical and secular objects from Trapani, such as monstrances, trays, crucifixes, necklaces, and ostensories. Eighteenth-century Neapolitan and Torrese masters are represented through necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and cane and parasol handles. Chinese holdings feature remarkable statuettes each carved from a single block of coral, while Tibetan and Nepalese antiquities include a man's coral vest and a Mongolian purse.

The museum is situated at 61 via Montedoro in Torre del Greco. It is protected by a thick armored door and constructed in a casemate style, excavated several metres deep into volcanic rock. The exhibition space consists of a single large hall fitted with dozens of secure display cases.
