Museo Civico Archeologico 'Antonio De Nino'

The Museo Civico Archeologico Antonio De Nino is an archaeology museum located in Corfinio, in the Province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy. Established to preserve and exhibit the archaeological heritage of the ancient Roman site of Corfinium, the institution is named after the pioneering archaeologist Antonio De Nino. It serves as the primary repository for artifacts uncovered during excavations at the end of the nineteenth century and provides insight into the ancient history of the region.

The museum opened in 2005 to permanently house artifacts discovered during Antonio De Nino's late nineteenth-century excavations in Corfinio, work later continued by Don Nicola Colella, canon of San Pelino. The initial 1878 finds were originally displayed in the Oratory of Sant'Alessandro. During the German occupation in World War II, this early museum was plundered. The surviving exhibition was temporarily reassembled in rooms adjacent to the cathedral, but the collection was eventually transferred to Chieti for safekeeping, where it remained until the establishment of the new museum in 2005.

The museum's collection spans ten rooms spread across two floors, organized to present the archaeological record of the area. The ground floor features a reconstruction of Antonio De Nino's study, displaying some of his scholarly works alongside artifacts he personally recovered. The first floor contains the main exhibition galleries, where the collection is organized by thematic areas to contextualize the materials from the Corfinio excavations.

The museum is housed in the Colella-Trippitelli family palace, a structure dating back to the seventeenth century. The historic palazzo provides the architectural setting for the institution, integrating the region's early modern heritage with its ancient archaeological collections.
