Museum Venanzo Crocetti

The Museum Venanzo Crocetti is a contemporary art museum in Rome, Italy, dedicated to the life and work of the Italian sculptor Venanzo Crocetti (1913-2003). The holdings range chronologically from 1930 to 1998, covering nearly the entirety of Crocetti's productive life. The museum's collection is distinguished by its breadth of media, including bronze and marble sculptures, stone works, paintings, works on paper, and archival documents. In addition to its permanent holdings, the institution hosts various events and temporary exhibitions dedicated to contemporary art, working in synergy with legally recognized artist archives, galleries, and art associations dedicated to the promotion of Italian and international cultural heritage.

While the museum concentrates the largest body of Crocetti's work, the sculptor's art has a significant international presence. Crocetti's works are held in cities across the globe, including Rome, Brussels, Paris, Bern, Zurich, New York, Sao Paulo, Montreal, Tokyo, and Osaka. A major international recognition of his work occurred in 1991, when the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg dedicated a permanent exhibition room to his sculptures.

The museum is housed in the large building that originally served as the main Roman studio of the sculptor. The structure was purpose-built to accommodate large-scale sculptural projects, most notably the Porta dei Sacramenti. The complex has since been subdivided into various exhibition halls across three floors. In addition to the museum and exhibition spaces, the site incorporates the residence where the artist lived until his death, and houses the Antonio Tancredi Library, which has been active in the national bibliographic service since 2022.
