Local Cesena painters such as Francesco Andreini, Antonio Pio, Cristoforo Serra, and Scipione Sacco also feature prominently. The contemporary section, named after Luigi Veronesi, contains works donated by artists and recent acquisitions.

Since 1984, the Pinacoteca Comunale has been housed in the Ex-Convento di San Biagio, a former convent that provides the gallery with its permanent exhibition spaces. The interior is divided into three principal rooms. Sala 1, the central space, contains the oldest paintings from the fifteenth through the seventeenth centuries. Sala 2, to the left, is devoted to works of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Sala 3, to the right, is dedicated to contemporary art and bears the name of Luigi Veronesi.
