The Gallery of 19th-Century Polish Art encompasses the most significant trends in Polish art from the Enlightenment through the late 19th century. The collection, largely built through donations from artists, collectors, and gentry, includes over two hundred paintings and sculptures. The permanent exhibition is arranged in four grand halls, each corresponding to a specific historical period and artistic movement, and organized around a central, monumental work. The Bacciarelli Room covers the Enlightenment, featuring late Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassicism, and Sentimentalism. The Michałowski Room is dedicated to Romanticism and the era of insurrections. The Siemiradzki Room focuses on Academicism and the second half of the 19th century. The Chełmoński Room presents Realism, Polish Impressionism, and the early Symbolism of the Young Poland movement. The gallery's arrangement resembles a 19th-century salon, showcasing the stylistic pluralism and patriotic themes prevalent during the period of the Partitions.

The Sukiennice is located at Rynek Główny 3, 31-042 Kraków, Poland. The ground floor market stalls, selling handicrafts and souvenirs, are accessible to the public. The Gallery of 19th-Century Polish Art on the upper floor is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and is closed on Mondays. Adult admission is 35 PLN, with reduced admission at 25 PLN and a family ticket at 70 PLN. Youth aged 7 to 26 pay 1 PLN, and children under 7 enter free. Tuesdays offer free admission. The building is equipped with an elevator providing wheelchair access to the gallery and the terraces, which offer views of the Main Market Square. Facilities include accessible restrooms, a tactile sound-enabled information board in Polish, English, and Ukrainian, and a museum shop. The site is accessible via multiple bus and tram lines, and visitors can also access the rooftop Szał Cafe.
