Master of the Dispersed Bhagavata Purana is the notname given to the anonymous artist or workshop responsible for an early illustrated series of the Bhagavata Purana, the Hindu text recounting the life of Krishna. Produced in northern India, probably the Delhi-Agra region, around 1520 to 1540, the series is among the earliest large-scale illustrated manuscripts of the text in South Asia and originally comprised several hundred loose folios, now dispersed among collections worldwide. The paintings are associated with the Early Rajput, or Chaurapanchasika, style, marked by bold flat colour, angular figures, and vigorous narrative composition.
