Master of Morata is the conventional name given to an anonymous Spanish painter active in Aragon during the late fifteenth century, roughly between 1470 and 1505. Like other artists known only by a 'master' designation, he is identified through a group of stylistically related works rather than through documents. He painted retablos, large multi-panel altarpieces, in tempera and gold on wood, treating subjects such as the Passion of Christ and the life of the Virgin.
His work belongs to the Hispano-Flemish manner of the period, with gilded, embossed grounds and decorative haloes. Examples are held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
