Artist

W. Derby

W. Derby is a Romanticism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

This guy was obsessed with beards. Like, every face he drew sprouted one, thick, wiry, comically overgrown. He cranked out prints so fast they feel like snapshots from a 19th-century tabloid.

The fact that his most famous sheet, H Beard Print Collection (14th February 1820), is just a grid of bearded blokes staring at you feels like a joke someone told over breakfast. He belongs here because you can actually find that print online and squint at the sideburns.
