Artist
Master of the Holy Kinship the Elder

Master of the Holy Kinship the Elder is a Northern Renaissance painter. 10 works are cataloged here, principally at Bavarian State Painting Collections.
The Master of the Holy Kinship the Elder was an anonymous German painter active in Cologne in the early fifteenth century, roughly between 1410 and 1440. The notname distinguishes him from a later Cologne artist given the same designation, known as the Younger, who worked around 1475 to 1515. The Elder belongs to the Cologne school during its International Gothic phase, working in the elegant, courtly manner that prevailed in the city before the middle of the century.
As with many medieval painters, no documented name survives, and his identity is reconstructed from a group of religious panels grouped by style.
