Ellen Wallace Sharples (1769-1849) was a British artist known for her portraits in pastel and watercolour. She married the portraitist James Sharples and worked alongside him, copying his pastel likenesses and producing her own; the family travelled and worked for periods in the United States, where they portrayed prominent figures of the early republic. She was the mother of the painter Rolinda Sharples.
After settling in Bristol, Ellen used the family fortune to help establish the Bristol Fine Arts Academy, later the Royal West of England Academy, to which she was a major benefactor.
