Master of the Saint Godelieve Legend is the conventional name given to an anonymous Early Netherlandish painter active around the end of the fifteenth century, probably in Bruges. He is named after an altarpiece depicting the life and miracles of Saint Godelieve, an eleventh-century Flemish saint, now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. That work recounts her story, including her marriage and martyrdom, across several panels and may have been commissioned for a chapel in Bruges.
Like other anonymous masters, he is reconstructed by grouping panels of similar style, painted in oil on wood in the detailed manner of Netherlandish religious art.
