Saskai Genryō
Saskai Genryō is a Joseon dynasty painting artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Japanese painter from the late 1600s, Saskai Genryō is known for his Eight Views of the Xiao and Xiang Rivers paintings. These ink scrolls show misty river scenes with layered mountains, fishing boats, and seasonal changes, classic East Asian landscape traditions. The 1675 version in our collection puts you right on the water at dusk, with a heron standing still in the reeds. Tap the scroll to zoom in and see how the brushstrokes build up mist.
