In the style of Wen Zhengming

In the style of Wen Zhengming is a Ming dynasty painting artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Cleveland Museum of Art.

"In the style of Wen Zhengming" is an attribution used for paintings that follow the manner of Wen Zhengming (1470-1559), a leading scholar-painter, calligrapher, and poet of the Ming dynasty and a central figure of the Wu School centered at Suzhou. Works given this label, such as Playing the Qin in a Secluded Valley, adopt his refined literati landscape style, with finely drawn brushwork, restrained ink tones, and scenes of scholars amid mountains and streams. Such pieces were produced by later followers and imitators rather than by Wen Zhengming himself.
