Jacometto Veneziano was an Italian painter and manuscript illuminator active in Venice in the late fifteenth century, where he died around 1497. He worked in the early Renaissance tradition of the Veneto and is documented in contemporary sources, notably the collector Marcantonio Michiel, who praised his small-scale portraits and miniatures. Few works survive that can be securely attributed to him, but he is best known for intimate portraits such as those of a boy and of a young man, painted on a reduced scale with careful attention to physiognomy and fine detail. His refined, miniaturist manner reflects the Venetian portraiture of his generation.
