This painting shows a quiet courtyard framed by two arches. The arches have stone columns and a worn, earthy look. Outside, there’s a brick building with small windows and a tiled roof. Green plants grow in pots along the ledges, and a few small trees stand in the middle, casting soft shadows. The light hits the arches unevenly, making some spots brighter than others. The brickwork and stone have a rough, textured feel, almost like you could reach out and touch it. This painting uses chiaroscuro.
