Double Goblet with Oval Medallions of Knights is a 1530 ink by Sebald Beham, a Renaissance work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This drawing shows two tall, ornate goblets stacked together. The top one has a small spout and a carved lid with a scene of a knight in armor. The middle section is decorated with swirls and a shield-like design, while the bottom goblet has rounded bulges and a leafy base. The text at the top reads like instructions: *"Hie oben magst auch ein fvvs machen"* (which means "Here you can also make a spout"). The date "1530" is stamped in the corner, and the artist’s initials appear below. Next, look up engraving to see how artists like this one used metal plates and sharp tools to create detailed prints.
