You see a tall, crumbling castle in the distance. In front, a man leans on a stick near two dogs. The watercolor uses soft blues and greens to show a quiet Irish landscape. This scene is from the 1700s. The artist, Gabriel Beranger, traveled Ireland and made many drawings like this. He kept records of old buildings before they disappeared. Watercolor glazing gives the painting its dreamy look.
