This watercolor shows a woman reading a book as she walks along a path near Monkstown Castle. The castle stands tall in the background, its stone walls and towers catching the light. Gabriel Beranger made many views like this in the 1700s. He traveled Ireland and painted its buildings. This one uses soft colors to show the scene in a quiet way.
